Our Namesake, Rose Weaver

Meet Rose Weaver, our namesake

Rose Weaver  was a modern Renaissance Woman, though at RWPP we prefer the term polymath. A polymath is a "a person of wide-ranging knowledge or learning" and that is exactly who Rose Weaver was.

Having grown up within a generation marked by the enormous hardships of WWI, the pandemic of 1918, The Great Depression, and WWII, Rose was molded into a creative, determined, faithful, and striver as side-effects.

At age 13 Rose was forced to put a pause on her formal education in order to help her household. Creating homemade meals to serve her large family and the threshers who worked on her family farm, in addition to varied farm girl tasks, made Rose into a human of extreme competence.

At age 18, with her duties at home diminished,  Rose returned to high school graduating with her diploma from Hesston Mennonite College in Hesston, Kansas where she met her future husband Samuel Weaver. From there they lived a faith-filled life with three sons and a daughter. In addition, over the years, they owned and operated a grocery store, ran a dairy farm --complete with woods to romp in, and a river to swim in-- grew crops (and flower and vegetable gardens), and had two pets: a farm dog named Queenie and pet Goose named Ike (after the 34th president). A central part of a peaceful life, for them, was centering Christ and his teachings through the peace-focused antibaptist faith.

During her adult life, Rose was a member of a gardening club, a quilting club, a flower club, and Wellman Mennonite Church.

Rose could sew, quilt, knit, crochet, bake, cook, garden, and more, and she did all that was needed with care, cheer, and a loving no nonsense attitude. She also kept a house white-glove clean and made holidays and weekend dinners with her children and grandchildren a delight.

Having a fondness and proclivity toward science, had life gone another direction, Rose dreamed she would have been a nurse or a doctor.

We create this mission in her honor with recognition that each person has a dream in their hearts and a inherent worthiness to validate it. We hope our offerings allow you the opportunity to get in touch with what makes your heart come alive, because as Rose Weaver taught us, PEACE is your birthright.
