Rose Weaver was a modern Renaissance Woman, though at RWPP we prefer the term polymath. A polymath is a "a person of wide-ranging knowledge or learning" and that is exactly who Rose Weaver was.
Having grown up within a generation marked by the enormous hardships of WWI, the pandemic of 1918, The Great Depression, and

The RWPP began as an emerging dream/idea that came to Megan while floating in a sensory deprivation tank (as silly as this might sound, it is true, and self-care as a helping professional is essential). After a hard week as a psychotherapist, bearing witness to extreme human suffering, Megan was searching for additional ways to help people alleviate pain and introduce peace.
In her previous work as a school teacher, family support worker, support group facilitator, respite care provider, substitute teacher, transitional living program advocate, Megan was always searching for ways to create systems to support well-being for herself and others.
Her decision to go to graduate school was one based on how to make the most positive impact in people's lives. In 2018, Megan realized the positive influence therapy was having in people's daily lives, but wanted to do more. She really missed some of the impactful work she'd done in the past working outside of the system of psychotherapy. She began volunteering with Dream City helping the CEO and founder with a support group he was running at City High. This experience of volunteering reminded Megan of a great joy in her past work life: working with others in a non-clinical group setting. From here her idea that was born in the sensory deprivation tank began to take a turn from a dream to an idea that she knew would come to fruition.
The pandemic of 2020 slowed this idea, but in the spring of 2021 Megan began setting in motion a plan to get the Rose Weaver Peace Project off the ground by the fall of 2021.
The idea was for the RWPP to be a job that doesn't feel like work. Having experienced this phenomena in creating and working in her private practice, Megan knew that it was possible for work to be ones highest form of play.
An additional layer of the RWPP was the dream to make the business a family one. Her retired mom and dad hope to contribute in the near future and another family member is currently doing an internship at the RWPP as part of their BA in Enterprise Leadership at the UI
We want to increase people's access to play, joy, and hope. We want to be a beacon of light for those searching for ways to increase peace in their lives, and in the lives of others. We offer a variety of free and paid programming designed to increase social and emotional literacy and increase access to play through movement, art, nature, and other crafting experiences.
Please see our "The Why" and "The How" for more information on this.
Megan Matthews (LISW) and Elias R (our intern) are currently the only employees of the RWPP. They co-host, co-facilitate, and co-create content aimed at helping people increase their access to joy, play, and positive emotions, thus increasing personal and collective peace.
We at RWPP understand that you are more than your productivity. We want to remind you that your life is worth having fun with. A lot of what we do is for the explicit purpose of in-the-moment-peace. Take for instance our Full Moon Hikes. There is no point to our hikes, the hike IS the point.
